What to expect from BOTOX procedures

What to Expect on the Day of BOTOX for Migraines

Most people are aware that Botox is administered by injection, but rather than inserting the needle into your fine lines or wrinkles, Dr. Manios will place them in the “trigger areas” (i.e. your forehead, temples, and back of your head and neck), but the injections are only very shallow and administered with a very slim needle.

In total, each Chronic Migraine treatment involves a total of 31 injections, which does seem like a lot, but because they are so shallow, they can be performed very quickly and without too much discomfort.

The whole procedure usually takes just 15 minutes and can be performed in your physician’s office.

BOTOX for Migraines Recovery

After your injections, you will be able to return to your normal routine. To achieve the best results, you will be given two initial Botox Chronic Migraine treatments 12 weeks apart. After the first 24 weeks, Dr. Manios will assess the efficacy of the treatment and if you’re satisfied with the results, will recommend that you undergo repeat Botox treatments roughly every 12 weeks to maintain the results.
